occupational therapy helps Colin tie his shoesSage Care is thrilled to share this fantastic letter from Colin’s Mom about his achievements, all with the help of his Occupational Therapist, Maggie. Stories like these make us work even harder to make sure more kids get the care they need to grow, learn, and make amazing improvements beyond any disability. Sage Care is so proud of Colin and to have therapists like Maggie as a part of our Sage Care family.

Hi Maggie,

Bobbie here.  I wanted to let you know that tonight prior to us going to the gym….Colin put his own socks on ( without me nearby to supervise)  and put on his tennis shoes while sitting in that chair he normally sits in.

I did not even have to ask him to try.

I was in the laundry room and he was in the formal doing this all alone.

Then he was able to tie one shoe correctly while it was on his foot….. and he was so proud.

The other shoe did not get tied all the way….but close.

He had his knee bent while sitting in the chair tying his shoes.

I just wanted to pass along my thanks to you.

I truly appreciate your hard work and encouraging teaching style that you have with Colin.

Thank you.

I am quite proud of Colin that he took the the initiative to just try on his own…..he tends to like me nearby and such.

He was very happy and proud of himself tonight. I was very happy and proud for Colin as well.

Anyway….I know he needs more practice for sure, but this was a very positive achievement and step in the right direction for Colin this evening.

Colin and I truly appreciate all you do to enrich his life and help him make progress to be more independent.

Thank you very much.

You are a blessing to Colin and our family.

All the best,

Bobbie

Pediatric occupational therapy helps so many children like Colin focus on their “occupations” or “jobs” of childhood such as playing, socialization, self-care, learning, and school performance. Sage Care therapists focus on the unique needs of each individual child and provide  meaningful activity, in order to keep the child motivated and invested in the therapeutic process. While pediatric therapy is designed to feel like play to the child, our expertly trained occupational therapists draw from strategies in many specialty areas to build upon your child’s progress.
